Clik here to view.Happy weekend to you! I am so excited to share with you some photos that Dean and I took in the inspiring studio of Ellen Brookes, the designer behind the beautiful fashion label Sideline. I first discovered Sideline back at the beginning of last year when Ellen launched her debut collection and I knew I had to share it here on L&S. Come and take a peek with me.Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.Knowing that Ellen and her studio were based so close by in Lewes, we made long overdue plans to meet. I could hardly wait to see inside the place where the Sideline designs come to life. Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.Simply styled for function and inspiration, when you walk in there is a wonderful scent in the air of fabric and tea – Ellen shares her studio with the lovely Pauline, owner of the ethical tea company, Vrac Tea! For me, the mix of serene considered tea drinking and intricately detailed design ideas being realised alongside each other is a match made in heaven.Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view. There are beautiful neatly drawn plans for outfits on the walls above the sewing machine, amazing fabric samples and indigo coloured cloth in various shades in every direction. I loved the flashes of sunshine yellow from the new collection that were here and there too.Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view. You know me – I am pretty much obsessed with mood boards, so this wall dedicated to pattern, style, shape and colour, was exactly what I hoped to see. It seems like Ellen is forward planning my ideal wardrobe here.Image may be NSFW.

Clik here to view. That yellow again, the style of this fabric with a stitched pattern is so tactile and it’s so soft too.Image may be NSFW.

Clik here to view.Ellen is one of those people whose style you hope rubs off on you. The perfect ambassador for her own brand, dressed in easy layers of the indigo fabrics that she champions. The ethos at the heart of her thoughtful designs is to create feminine everyday clothes that feel special.Image may be NSFW.

Clik here to view. There is only one small window in the Studio and it lets in the daylight in a subtle way, adding shadows and a touch of magic to the space, highlighting the weave, texture and details of the beautiful fabrics sideline is known for. The rug is a happy burst of colour against the palette of mostly white and blue.Image may be NSFW.

Clik here to view. This is the dress I’ll be wearing all summer (well, it does literally have my name on it) and I have a serious crush on the Pia Kimono jacket with its pattern of triangles and deep pockets. Just right for spring galavanting when you only need a notebook, pencil and maybe a debit card, on your person at all times. We loved the mood inside the studio, cosied away from the wet East Sussex winter. I hope you liked it too.Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view. The new Spring Summer collection is live now on the Sideline site, and to see the pieces in real life – I guarantee you will want to touch them all – find your nearest stockist here. I’ll leave you with a snap of one of our favourite Lewes streets. Wishing you a cosy weekend, hasn’t it turned cold again?!Image may be NSFW.
