Each day I get more eco-conscious and concerned with how my life impacts on Planet Earth, so now it’s time to tackle the wardrobe. I spurned fast fashion a few of years back, shops I won’t name upset me deeply with their lack of regard for people, animals, and our environment. But I do love to add a few new pieces to my outfit repertoire each season – so I thought it would be great every now and then to share the brands I have discovered that are making kinder fashion with transparent production, fair working policies and use organic or eco-friendly fibres in their clothes. I mostly choose classic pieces and have some items of clothing in my cupboard that have been with me since I was a teen (still being worn)! Each summer I do love to find a versatile crisp white top – I will invariably later dye it charcoal grey as I am a muddy plant re-potting, occasional water colouring, jam on toast dropping kind of lady – and natural fabrics dye beautifully for a second lease of life. I was drawn to lots of blues and white over at Braintree. Breezy coastal colours that remind me of Mediterranean sunshine and being outdoors. It also means I could easily throw together any of these items and make an outfit without having to peruse my wardrobe for an age each day, working from home means it is tempting to throw on my joggers and a loose sweater but reading a couple of Marie Kondo books has put a swift end to that! I hope you will find some outfit inspiration here with my relaxed sustainable working wardrobe ideas.
